Small Mahogany Desk, Jacob Kjaer, 1940s
This delicate, freestanding desk is crafted from solid mahogany and protected with an oil-wax finish, giving it a satin-smooth touch. Designed by Jacob Kjaer, this piece is a prime example of Danish design.
The inner corners of the legs are chamfered, adding to the overall elegance of the furniture’s form. The black tabletop, made of a synthetic material, is seamlessly fitted into the solid mahogany frame.
The brass fittings and locks are characteristic of 1940s Danish designers, echoing the hardware found in English furniture of the period. The piece has been renovated, though slight scratches are visible on the tabletop.
