The lower part of the body contains a small oak drawer. <\/p>\n<p>The tapered legs terminate in brass sabots with casters. The table features a hinged lid, which can be secured with a specialized hook, allowing the piece to be displayed in an open position. Inside the lid is an additional compartment, preserved in its original color scheme, formerly used for storing patterns. Its dividers are crafted from solid mahogany, boasting a beautiful patina.<br \/>\nThe variations in wood tone preserved during conservation indicate that the piece was historically displayed in an open position, resulting in the significantly lighter color palette of the interior.<\/p>\n<p>The lids of the individual compartments, featuring bone handles (knobs), are crafted from birch wood with a dark inlaid stringing. All internal compartments are made of solid mahogany. <\/p>\n<p>The exterior surface of the piece has been cleaned and protected solely with beeswax to avoid darkening the mahogany\u2019s natural tones. At the customer&#8217;s request, we can apply a shellac French polish to the exterior. Subtle cracks, characteristic of authentic wooden furniture, are visible on the surface.  <\/p>\n<p>The fittings are made of brass and are beautifully finished, which further demonstrates the class of the furniture.<\/p>\n<p>In the 19th century, sewing tables were an indispensable element of middle-class and aristocratic households.
