Danish mahogany mirror in the Louis XVI style, c. 1780 1780
A Louis XVI style mahogany mirror, made in Denmark, circa 1780
The original mirror plates have been preserved; the upper section features painted decoration, while the lower section shows delicate scratches and oxidation.
The carcass is constructed of pine with well-preserved original elements, veneered with mahogany. The mirror frame is adorned with intricate mahogany carvings in a fluted pattern characteristic of the Louis XVI style.
Both mirror plates are framed by a gilded ornament.
The piece is finished with a traditional shellac polish and matted with beeswax, preserved in very good condition (with a minor loss to the gilded decoration on the left side of the frame).
