Spanish colonial table from the Philippines – Square Drop

Spanish colonial table from the Philippines

This rustic Philippine colonial table is crafted from two types of exotic wood native to the Philippines: Narra and Molave. Both wood species are now under strict protection. The table’s matte surface is covered with a natural patina and shows signs of use and previous repairs, all preserved with only beeswax. This elongated rectangular table is made of solid wood.

From 1565 to 1898, the Philippines were a Spanish colony, which explains the Spanish style of this furniture piece. These types of tables were primarily made for monastery refectories in the Philippines. The table has a very interesting color scheme: the outer frame and legs are a dark brown with a slightly reddish tint, while the central part features shades of yellow and orange.

Due to its dimensions, the table fits perfectly in a dining room, living room, or even a conservatory, as it’s resistant to humidity.

We believe that Eevery mark tells a story. This stunning Spanish Colonial table from the Philippines exemplifies our philosophy: restoration as preservation. We’ve ensured its unique patina remains, celebrating the original craftsmanship and the journey of this rustic piece, rather than erasing its past.
