Danish Baroque cabinet/wardrobe, 18th century
This is a two-door, oak Baroque wardrobe with very subtle proportions for this style. It is preserved in a rustic finish with a beautiful, natural patina. The doors feature panels characteristic of the style. In the central part and on the sides of the front, there are pilasters that flank the doors with the style’s characteristic panels.
The furniture is made of solid oak, with only the back panel being a later addition made of pine wood. The wardrobe originates from Denmark and has a knock-down construction (designed to be disassembled).
The base, supported by turned feet, with two drawers, forms one section. The sides with the doors and the back are fitted into this base. Everything is held together by a decoratively elaborate cornice. The historic fittings and key are preserved. The furniture’s construction is secured with wooden dowels, most of which are original.
It’s possible to add shelves or a clothes rail inside.
The piece is in good condition and has not undergone conservation. Upon the client’s request, we can determine the scope of conservation work and prepare a cost estimate.
