Empire-style black chest of drawers with marble ornaments

Danish Empire, mahogany chest of drawers traditionally ebonised, circa 1820 1820.

The surface is finished in a high-gloss black piano lacquer, accented by decorative marble details on the sides and around the escutcheons. The carcass is constructed from pine wood and veneered in mahogany. The drawer interiors, preserved in their original condition, are crafted from oak with a beautifully aged patina and elegant beaded moldings on the edges. The front legs, characteristic of the style, are tapered, while the rear legs take the form of simple block feet.
The finish has some light cracking typical of antique wood. All locks work fine and come with a brass key.

The commode has a very elegant shape with subtle proportions, while the marble accents really bring out its classic character. Thanks to its simple form and black-and-white palette, it also fits perfectly into the Art Deco aesthetic.
